The Toronto Maple Leafs have been without goaltender Jack Campbell for several weeks now, as he's been on the shelf with a rib injury. Of course, they've featured the struggling Petr Mrazek in net in Campbell's stead, along with rookie Erik Kallgren. 

For Leafs fans hoping to see a return to the crease for the man they affectionately call "Soup", they needn't worry. Campbell was back on the ice this morning ahead of his team's matchup against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden, and while he's not quite ready for game action, he's getting closer. 

And according to head coach Sheldon Keefe, he's inching closer. 

“He doesn’t look far off,” Keefe says.

The Leafs goaltender had been in contention for the Vezina Trophy during the first half of the season, and even earned his first NHL All-Star game appearance. But he's been struggling since then, posting a .882 save percentage since the first of the year. 

If the Leafs are to break their lengthy postseason victory drought, they'll need Campbell at his best.
