Maple Leafs get silver lining in Muzzin's latest injury update

Good news and bad news for Toronto.

It's a bit of a good news-bad news situation for the Toronto Maple Leafs. The bad news being is that they'll be without veteran defenseman Jake Muzzin for at least the next four weeks after he was placed on Long Term Injured Reserve earlier today.

However, the good news is that this will add a total of $5,625,000 to Toronto's LTI Salary pool.

This isn't the first time that Muzzin has gone through injury woes, having suffered a concussion on two separate occasions last year.

“Obviously, I want to be out there, I want to be with the guys playing,” Muzzin explained. “But like we just talked about, there’s a lot more important things in life than this great game.”

“Any time a player gets injured and has as many injuries as Jake has had to deal with, there is concern, of course,” Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe said. “How much concern? I don’t know. I think it’s probably too early to say that at this point.”

In four games this season, Muzzin has registered one assist along with eight shots on goal.
